Team Europe wins the 40th Ryder Cup with a 16½-11½ victory against the United States at Gleneagles.
World No.1 Rory McIlroy struck first with a 5 & 4 win against Rickie Fowler before fellow Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell came back from three down to beat Jordan Spieth 2 & 1.
Bubba Watson lost 4 & 2 to Martin Kaymer, while Justin Rose scrapped back from four down against Hunter Mahan to grab a half on the last and take Europe to within half a point.
Team Europe, captained by Paul McGinley, led 10-6 going into the final day and reached the 14½ needed to win the Cup outright when Welsh rookie Jamie Donaldson beat Keegan Bradley 4 & 3. Donaldson, playing in the 10th match, sealed the win against Bradley.
This would make Europe's eighth win in the last ten meets.

Here’s "Bunkered" Golf Magazine Editor Bryce Ritchie’s take on why the USA keep losing the biggest competition in golf.
1. They make bad vice-captain choices
2. The Ryder Cup is no place for war memories
3. Culturally, they’re just different
4. Their problem players keep qualifying
5. The PGA of America is too involved
6. They lack inspiration
7. Michael Jordan
8. They save their worst golf for the Ryder Cup
9. They won’t change for one week
