A little bit more info on PASTA 796 and a small correction to what Kamal had written.
I actually did not open any Italian cafe. Cafe Makan Makan is an established restaurant owned by different owner.
What I did was just to open a small western food kiosk within the restaurant selling just Italian Pastas... thats all.
Alhamdulillah, after third day, the response is very very encouraging. We have repeat customers even by 2nd and 3rd day of business.
The kiosk is actually operated by my son who had just graduated in Culinary Art, who likes to start a food business (bukan kah 90% rezeki datang dari bidang perniagaan?) in a VERY small scale first instead of working for others. I liked the idea and we decide to sell affordable pasta, which is something not normally available at normal Malaysian restaurants... so Pasta 796 was born.
We hope Pasta 796 will grow bigger in future but for now, operating from a kiosk within an established restaurant is our best option considering all the pros and cons.
Pasta 796 will specialize in nothing else but pastas but we will add more pasta dish variety as we move on and of course, lasagna will be next in the menu in a very near future.
FYI, Cafe Makan Makan is very spacious with ample parking. The restaurant serves normal Malay/Thai foods from the main kitchen as well from other independent kiosks. So you have variety of selection to choose from for your meals. It opens 24 hours however Pasta 796 opens only from 5PM until 12 Midnight.
